Megan Downer - Counsellor
Specialising in pregnancy loss and infertility
I am a qualified counsellor with 30 years of experience in the health and therapeutic sector supporting those coping with infertility and pregnancy loss. I understand the difficulties people face when loss goes unrecognized by others and the need for a place to share your story with someone who has experience and knowledge of these hidden losses.
I offer grief and loss counselling for those experiencing infertility at any point in their journey, those who have had a pregnancy loss at any stage during the pregnancy and those whose babies have died.
I am committed to providing a comfortable and safe place for women and men to talk about their loss, to have a better understanding of their thoughts and feelings and a place to heal. I offer both short and long term counselling, whatever the need may be.
I have a gentle and relational approach, supporting people through their experience and working together to find ways of coping and building new skills and resilience.
I have contracts with some EAP Providers (employment assistance program), contact me for more information.
My preference is face to face counselling as it is my experience that this is better when working with traumatic loss. I am able to provide online support for those outside of the Auckland area or for those who require online support.
